I was reading this article on Eater about Portland and was struck by something. It’s a long article that has some good things and bad things to say about Portland restaurants. The writer makes a case that Portland is one of the best food cities in the nation. I’m not an expert on that, but it sounds right. At one point she says “Nong’s Khao Man Gai, famously the first place you should go when you land in Portland.”
If you’ve visited us here in Portland, we’ve probably given you takeout from Nong’s. If not, you should know the default meal is soup (perfect), chicken (perfect), rice (perfect), and a cup of sauce (somehow better than perfect).
Here’s the thing, we can –and often do– order Nong’s for delivery on Caviar. According to the article, Portland is one of the best, or the best, food city in America. Nong’s is the first restaurant you should go to when you land in the best food city in America. AND WE ORDER IT FOR DELIVERY LIKE IT WAS DOMINO’S.
We put up with a lot of bad weather to live here. But Portland has it’s perks
