I never read Ultimate Spider-Man back when it was being released, but a coworker told me about how the Miles Morales character was rejuvenating the Spider-Man concept. I went into 2017’s Into the Spider-Verse with “no expectations.” Like a lot of people, I was blown away.
I have seen a lot of sites proclaiming the new Across the Spider-Verse as the best Spider-Man movie ever. It’s hard for me to compare the two. Its predecessor sucker-punched me so hard with its explosively creative energy that the sequel just can’t have the same impact. See it. Ultimate Spider-Man squaring up with Spider-Man 2099? It doesn’t get any better. Or at least it won’t until the next movie comes out.
